Internet Safety Talk- Tuesday 7th March 2017

There will be an internet safety talk for parents and students at 9.20 am on Tuesday 7th March 2017. With all the new technologies now available, it is important for parents and children to be very aware and informed.

5th and 6th class talk will take place from 9.30 -11.00. 3rd and 4th class talk will take place from 11.30 to 1.00. Parents are invited and welcome to attend both sessions.

RDS Primary Science Fair 2016 at BT young Scientist

Well done to all our students, teachers and parents who had a great day at the BT young Scientist in the RDS last Thurday. Over 100 students from 2nd, 3rd , 4th , 5th, 6th class attended the fair leaving Clara at the early time of 7am yesterday morning!

A particular word of congratulations to our science team who received an award for their primary science project entitled ” How can we create the Digital School of the Future?” The aim of the project involved investigating how technology can be used to improve all aspects of our school.

Using a number of Apps they explained to the judges how the Ipad tablet device could be used to improve literacy, numeracy and assessment in our school.They also programmed the Raspberry PI mini computer to ensure that when someone rings the doorbell of our school, our principal now receives a notification and picture of the caller by email on her phone. Finally, they also conducted an interesting survey regarding internet safety and how they use technology in their own lives every day.

Congratulations to our school football team who defeated Portarlington in the Division One Offaly Cumann na mBunscol football championship recently. Well done to all the players for putting in such a great effort all year.
