Internet Safety Talk- Tuesday 7th March 2017

There will be an internet safety talk for parents and students at 9.20 am on Tuesday 7th March 2017. With all the new technologies now available, it is important for parents and children to be very aware and informed.

5th and 6th class talk will take place from 9.30 -11.00. 3rd and 4th class talk will take place from 11.30 to 1.00. Parents are invited and welcome to attend both sessions.

St Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal

Fantastic hurling coaching

RDS Primary Science Fair 2016 at BT young Scientist

Well done to all our students, teachers and parents who had a great day at the BT young Scientist in the RDS last Thurday. Over 100 students from 2nd, 3rd , 4th , 5th, 6th class attended the fair leaving Clara at the early time of 7am yesterday morning!

A particular word of congratulations to our science team who received an award for their primary science project entitled ” How can we create the Digital School of the Future?” The aim of the project involved investigating how technology can be used to improve all aspects of our school.

Using a number of Apps they explained to the judges how the Ipad tablet device could be used to improve literacy, numeracy and assessment in our school.They also programmed the Raspberry PI mini computer to ensure that when someone rings the doorbell of our school, our principal now receives a notification and picture of the caller by email on her phone. Finally, they also conducted an interesting survey regarding internet safety and how they use technology in their own lives every day.

St. Francis Boys School wishes to express their sincere thanks to our hardworking parents council who raised an incredible amount of money as part of their recent Who wants to be a Thousandaire Fundaraiser! Thanks to all businesses, supporters , parents and everyone who bought tickets and supported the event in any way. A special word of thanks to the parents council themselves for the all the hard work and commitment that they showed. Thank you and well done to all involved.

Science and Technology Fair 2015

Congratulations and well done to the boys from 2nd and 3rd class who are working very hard on their Discovery Primary Award. As part of the award, the boys invited parents and the other classes in our school to visit their science fair which took place in the school hall recently. There were over 15 individual science projects and stands on display ranging from ‘the magic coin’ to ‘does an orange have air?’ All the visitors , including the celebrity judge were very impressed with all their experiments and knowledge. Well Done to all concerned!

Football Champions 2015 -2016

Congratulations to our school football team who defeated Portarlington in the Division One Offaly Cumann na mBunscol football championship recently. Well done to all the players for putting in such a great effort all year.
